We (Anna, Sarah and I) help a friend out at at ranch in Guthrie. This week we cleaned the horses (vacuumed and brushed), did their tails, put them outside to walk on the exercise machine, cleaned stalls and then brought them back in. There are about 8 horses and 6 mini ponies. We've been enjoying our time out there and getting to work around horses :)

Thanksgiving Bike Ride

Lydia just learnt to ride a two-wheeler bike a couple weeks ago.

Anna and I pretending we don't like each other.... we really do :D

For Thanksgiving this year we went on a bike ride around Lake Hefner. It is about 12 miles around the lake. The weather was really nice that day, so we it was alot of fun! It took us about 3 hours.

Rockclimbing in Arkansas

We went to Arkansas last weekend for a friend's 13th Birthday party. They had dinner and a picture slideshow on Friday evening and then there was a rockclimbing event on Saturday. It was at the Horseshoe Canyon ranch in Jasper, AR. Some of us camped on Friday night, there were 8 in the girls tent so it was alot of fun :) Enjoy all the pictures!

2 weeks ago there were some wildfires in Oklahoma City, about 5 miles North of us. These are some of the pictures Sarah got while we were driving by.

County Fair 2011

Our family entered 10 different kinds of ice-cream this year, in the ice-cream freeze off at the county fair about 2 weeks ago. Anna entered Banana Pudding, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate icecreams. Sarah entered Mint Chocolate, Vanilla and Chocolate. Daddy entered a strange concoction of peach, chocolate, jalapeno and coffee ice-cream.... he made up the recipe :) Lydia entered Raspberry lemonade ice-cream and I entered Apple Pie and Vanilla Mint. We brought home a bunch of ribbons, with Anna winning first place with the Banana Pudding ice-cream. We will get some of the recipes up soon! Some of us also entered in the Salsa contest. Daddy, Anna and Sarah placed.

Afterwards we went over to one of the horse barns with some friends and watched some 4H horse events.

We finally got our pool opened! Usually we open it earlier.... but didn't get it done this year, because we've been busy. We had to drain and powerwash it before filling it back up.

At the Big Texan restaurant in Amarillo. We didn't eat there... just looked in the gift shop and took pictures :) The food was pretty expensive and not very healthy.

"The big tree" was a tourist-y spot. It is supposedly over 1000 years old!

Stevie Lew's BBQ Kitchen's outdoor trailer. They built it from the ground up. We went in there for lunch, and it turned out it was run by 2 homeschool families. It was neat meeting them, and the BBQ was good! Link to their Facebook page.
They also run an RV park and roast coffee beans.

We made these out of window paint. You draw the design on plastic, let it harden and then peel it off and stick it to the window.

We went to a Family camp in Arkansas last weekend with some friends. There was a 1000 foot zipline, trail rides, archery and shooting. We stayed in cabins with bunk-beds and a really warm heater :) It was alot of fun... and we hope we can go again next year!

Lydia's birthday was yesterday. (the 21st)

It was funny because we kept asking her all of yesterday "how old are you?" and she would say 3. So we would say no, today's your birthday, so you're 4 now, and she said "I'm not 4 until I've had my cake!" So after she ate her cake she said.... NOW I'm 4! :o)

Cake decorating

I recently took a Wilton cake decorating class. The pictures above are of the 1st and 3rd cake I made. It was alot of fun and I am planning to start the 2nd level next week.

I think it would be great if I could the cakes healthy and then use Organic food colorings for the frosting. As I make more cakes I'll *try* to remember to post some pictures on here! :o)

We went to a pottery studio in England and painted pottery with our Grandma. I painted a serving plate, Jonathan painted a dinner plate, Anna painted a butter dish, Sarah painted a serving bowl, and Lydia painted a little plate and bowl to play with her in her playhouse. I will post some pictures of the finshed pottery sometime....

One of our Ewes had a lamb on Tuesday. Anna went out to feed the sheep and noticed her lying on the ground. We didn't really know she was even pregnant!

In lieu of gifts the proud mother requests alfalfa hay and sweet grain.

One of our hens has been sitting on 4 eggs for 24 days. A yellow chick hatched yesterday and a black one hatched today! They are so cute!

We have been painting, cleaning and dusting the 3rd floor at the Lifehouse. Elizabeth decorated the apartment there and then photographed it. Mommy and Lydia textured the walls. Anna and Julia were painting, and the others cleaned or worked on other jobs.

Hammered Dulcimer

I recently bought this hammered dulcimer off of a listing I saw on Craigslist. It is a Masterworks 11/12 model. I don't remember the first time I wanted to learn to play this instrument, because I had never seen one before! I have seen people who play them on It has been fun figuring out the scales and playing a few tunes.
